Wolverine season over

The Michigan Wolverine season was over, before they even knew it. The first week of college football and already the 5th ranked Michigan my favorite college football team has a loss. This all but ends their run for a national championship. Most analyst do not even believe that the wolverines can even make it to the rose bowl.

As i watched the game on Saturday in disbelief that this team from double AA, Appalachian state was even competing with the nationally ranked fifth Michigan wolverines. Before the game even started i was thinking to myself it will be good for the wolverines to get a nice easy victory their first work. I was happy they were playing Appalachian state because it wouldn't be a tough game, especially during week one. knowing that week one is usually very sloppy and it enables everyone to get up to game speed. Never did i ever truly believe before the game started that they even had a chance against the wolverines. Not too mention that the game was at the BIG house in Ann Arbor. You wanna talk about a home field advantage, it is probably bigger than some professional sports teams.

As the game unfolded, play by play i just kept asking myself what was going on, how was this team competing with the wolverines. It just seemed like Appalachian state had someone in the Michigan huddle. Everything the wolverines did, Appalachian state had an answer for. The wolverines are filled with all Americans, and a Heisman trophy candidate not to mention a great coach, which is why i don't understand why everyone is talking about firing Lloyd Carr. All these years with him around and all of these winning seasons, and one loss, and everyone is going to jump off the bandwagon. Any case, the wolverines must win out the remainder of their games to try and get to the rose bowl. Michigan wasn't the only team to get upset this week, so i didn't feel too mad, it helped to see a few other ranked teams go down, it softened the blow.

I must say, as a Buckeye fan, I was almost as happy with that loss as i was with Ohio States win. I dont want to rub anything in and show some bad sportsmanship but it will be very tough for them to make any kind of BCS bowl. Yes they lost to App. State but they are still a good team, winning out is certainly not out of the question but that still might not be enough to get in. So if they dont win the Big 10, they could still get into a top Bowl game.

I know they lost to a D-I AA team but at least it was a good AA team. I couldn't imagine if they played a team like Syracuse probably would have blown them away. Good thing Mike Hart didn't decide to stay local.
