This the year the PGA tour is trying a little something different. They have finally realized that the are the only sport that does not have playoffs at the end of their season. This year it is different, the last four tournaments are considered playoff tournaments. The top 70 of each tournament receive points called, Fed Ex points and the person who has the most FedEx points at the end of the four tournaments will be named the Fed ex cup winner for 2007.
Only the top 140 players in the world are invited into these playoff tournaments, this will make the field very interesting. We are already done with two of the four tournaments and as of right now Phil Mickelson is atop the leader board in FedEx CUP POINTS.
It only took the PGA tour about 90 years do develop these playoffs but i sure am glad that they did. Me being a big golf player and huge fan, i am very excited to see the outcome this year. Now i am not a typical golf fan, i don't really care too much for tiger woods, although he will be the greatest golfer to ever play the game. Just something about his personality that i don't happened to like very much.
Now a lot of people think that golf is boring to watch, but if you have ever played you wouldn't think that it is boring. You would actually enjoy watching like i do. And it is even better to play, i play at least two times a week during the summer and not to brag but I'm pretty good. Now a lot of people are turned off to golf, they think it is a slow game and boring, and most can't even keep score. But that is far from the truth, it is the most mentally tough sport there is, and i would argue that until the day i die.
Anyways, i am very excited for the next two weeks of golf, and excited to watch the first ever FedEx Cup, hopefully the race will exciting and someone will be able to give Tiger a run for his money.
