It is not a frequent feeling for most new york Yankees fans, and a lot more frequent for Boston Red Sox fans. But this August, feelings in the Bronx, are not about how the Yankees will be able to get past the dreaded angels, but in fact, if there will be any post season for the New York Yankees, the most legendary franchise in all of sports. About this time red sox fans are asking themselves why they bother trying top compete. And for the Yankees the post season is a given. Not this year, time is running out for the yanks and there is not sign of catching the sox. but deep down as a new york city native, i know the Yankee magic will somehow come alive and there will be a post season for the Yankees. The wild card is there for the taking, and even though i cant stand to not win the pennant, you have to be in it to win it. So as the yanks and the sox battle on throughout September, Yankee and sox fans will have to switch their roles, and will find themselves in a different situation then they have ever been in before.

Joe,
I know I've got to be the only one, but I'm a fan of both the Yankees and the Red Sox. No loyalties for me, I'm afraid.
Well after watching the Yankees come within a game of sweeping the Sox tonight, I feel a little bit better. With their veteran players, I feel like they will always be competing at the end of the year. Another series with the Sox after this one could easily bring the Yanks into a position to win the division. The only fear I have is in starting pitching, but it only has to be good, not great, in order for them to win. The Yanks are poised to make a run to the playoffs and maybe further...
The yankees main concern is their pitching with no pitching no playoffs
Joe, I never really said anything about the Mets vs. the Yankees. That's a silly thing to say. it's like saying a dog is more fun than a cat and then suddenly saying Well a lion could kill a dog. I'm just discussing the Mets as a whole. To be honest, I think if the Mets and Yankees played 10 times it might go 5-5 or 4-6 and im not sure in which direction the 4-6. The Yankees may always be New York's team. But when the Mets are good, the city of New York gets very excited. And really? What's wrong with non-english speaking players? Have you counted your yankees? Matsui, Cano, Posada, Rodriguez, Cabrera. That's a team of white bread Americans isn't it?
In baseball things can change around quickly. Just thism back to the biggest come back in baseball history in 2004. Everyone counted the Red Sox out of the World Series, but they came back and took 4 games in a row on the Yankees to go to the Big Series. As much as I would like to, it is still to early to count the yanks out.
